I'd give the election to Clinton, although narrowly. if 9/15/09 occurs the way it did last year, McCain is done.

Possibly. The Cajuns wouldn't be horrified away from the Dems by a black man on the ticket.

Ehh... I am not so sure. That seems like being a bit too generous to Clinton. Perhaps she'd do better, but with McCain's strong response to Katrina it probably wouldn't have won her the state.

Louisiana?

Mr Clinton won Louisiana both election cycles, the second time with a majority. With an unpopular, more moderate McCain and a southerner like Warner on the ticket, it's not implausible to paint Louisiana a light red (meaning she won it with 46-49% or so.) I painted it a light blue myself because it'd be close.

I am not ruling out the possibility, but I find it unlikely.
