The real question is can Cantor run as an independent?

He can only run as a write-in. Very difficult and even though it's a safe Republican district, the Democratic challenger usually gets 40% or so and would probably win the seat if Cantor tried to split Brat's vote.

There's no Democratic challenger this year.

No, Jack Trammell, a college sociology professor, filed to run at the last minute and will be on the ballot.

I actually came across impressed with the guy from his interview on Hannity.  For a Teabagger, he doesn't sound too dumb and seems to be more of a serious issues guy rather than simply a mouthbreathing Neanderthal racist like Louie Gohmert.

I'd rather have a far right economics professor than a far right lawyer coming out of far right districts.

One last funny and typical Eric Cantor note: he uses the handle @GOPLeader rather than his name for his official Twitter account (even Boehner and Pelosi use their name). @GOPLeader

I'm guessing he'll have to move to a new one soon.

For anyone saying it's a turnout problem...
