I doubt the Onion has very many employees.  The tweeter was probably the CEO himself.

Stone and Parker aren't standup comedians, so they wouldn't work as hosts of anything.  MacFarlane sort of us.

Honestly, he should have done more cutaway gags.  I can understand why people hate them in Family Guy where there is supposed to be a plot, but for an award show celebrating movies, a whole night of little gags like the Sound of Music one they did would have been immensely entertaining.  Much more than all the musical numbers.
