Generally, when your brother is the state attorney general, a few strings can be pulled on your behalf.

Ah, so now you're just going to make things up. Ok.

Well, it just so happens that the individuals put in charge of investigating Conway's brother also are donors to Conway's campaign.

Let's lay out the known facts in this case:

1. Matthew Conway, brother of Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, was placed under investigation for drug trafficking, something which happens to normal law-abiding citizens all the time.

2. One Detective Scott Wilson, a personal friend of M. Conway, who went to the same high school, told one Scott Roby, another personal friend of M. Conway, and a donor of $1250 to Jack Conway's senate campaign, that M. Conway was under investigation for drug trafficking.  Roby told M. Conway that he was under investigation.  Wilson then took it upon himself to personally inform M. Conway two days in advance that his house was going to be searched by police, and let M. Conway read the police complaint against him.

3. M. Conway was later placed under investigation for drug trafficking again, which happens to normal law-abiding citizens all the time.

4. M. Conway was then tipped off again by a narcotics detective, Ronald Russ, that he was under investigation.

5. At around the same time, a third narcotics detective, Chauncey Carthan, randomly decided to strike up a conversation with one Charles Alexander, a major donor and fundraiser for J. Conway's Senate campaign, and told him that M. Conway was under investigation for drug trafficking.  Alexander then told J. Conway that M. Conway was under investigation.

6. J. Conway hired a lawyer, Bart Adams, to represent M. Conway.  Adams called Russ and told him that “You’re fine, don’t worry about it. Everything’s good, don’t worry about it.”

7. M. Conway then lied to police and said that Russ did not tell him about the investigation.  An unidentified witness then told him (illegally) that their stories differed, and M. Conway offered a corrected account wherein he acknowledged that Russ told him about the investigation.

8. The cases were put in the hands of one prosecutor David Stengel, whose boss was J. Conway (the self-same J. Conway who at this point had been illegally informed of the investigations), and who donated $500 to J. Conway's Attorney General campaign.  Stengel determined that there wasn't any wrongdoing at all!

Nothing suspicious here!  Look away, look away!  Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!
