No doubt in my mind that Romney would have won if not for Sandy. The event made the president look presidential, something he was lacking up until then. It distracted from the unemployment rate going up. It also stiffled Romney's spending advantage, which was rolled back somewhat by the time out in the midst of Sandy.
Both party's internals showed Romney walking away by the time of the third debate. It's why Romney played it so safe in order to neutralize foreign policy, and keep the race unchanged. Nobody foresaw a hurricane derailing our plan. Obviously Pravda--excuse me, the national media, did not do their job. But it was out of our control.
