What do you suppose the Lincoln campaign HQ is like these days? Does everyone walk around in morose silence, robotically going through the motions until November 2? Or does Lincoln walk around trying to give everyone false hope?
Well, there are plenty of challengers every cycle who have a smaller chance of winning than Lincoln does now. I don't imagine all their volunteers are despondent. To be sure, it's psychologically different with an incumbent, but I can't imagine it being huge, especially with first-time volunteers.
