I would try to model Singapore as closely as possible. I would run things, appointing people to government positions on meritocratic principles. Once the economy is healthy and self-sustaining, I would begin the transition to democracy. Knowing myself, if my son proved to be a competent person interested in running things, he would have an inside track to the top job.
Of course, if I was some foreigner who bought the place like in the OP, I doubt I would be popular enough to pull that off.
