What is this "Associated Students" group and what lobby are they so concerned about? I'm guessing their not a fan of the California flag either?
AS represents the student body of their respective student governments; each UC campus has its own AS corresponding to their campus. However, each AS has varying degrees of power depending on the campus, for example, Davis's AS is an organization runs much of the public transportation system of the city, but the student government itself has limited powers over campus policy.

If you asked them, they'd probably say no and give some spiel about American imperialism. Unfortunately, education is a far cry from intelligence.
You know as well as I do that the arguments tend to be a little more sophisticated than that.
