Another Crazy 1992

The 1992 Republican Primary between President George Bush and Patrick Buchanan was not much of a fight, as we all know. However, what would have happened if Buchanan's anti-tax, anti-debt and non-interventionist campaign had sparked with New Hampshire voters, propelling him to an upset victory in the primary. From there on Bush and Buchanan slug it out over the course of the primaries, with neither receiving the needed delegates. At the GOP Convention, Buchanan gives his "Culture War" speech and is swept into the GOP nomination. Buchanan selects Governor John Ashcroft, a fellow social conservative, as his running-mate.

President Bush, believing the convention has nominated a disaster of a ticket, declares he will run as an independent for the White House. He selects Senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming to be his new running-mate, bucking Vice-President Quayle who has been left behind in the GOP Primary confusion.

The Democrats select Governor Clinton and Senator Gore as in RL, and Perot and Stockdale also enter the fray.

So the tickets are:
