Big deal, President Taylor never voted, and I would rank him as one of the best of the Presidents between Jackson and Lincoln.

Taylor was completely incompetent.  It took Fillmore to approve the Compromise of 1850.  Polk was undeniably the best president between Jackson and Lincoln, and Clay was the best president that never was.

Taylor saw the Compromise of 1850 as what it was, simply a sell out to the slave holding minority. He knew we would just limp along until a Civil War. He would have lead his own army and hung every secessionist by the nearest tree. That is how you take care of traitors.
