If he loses the PV and the EV, certainly leaves politics at least for a few years. If he wins the PV but loses the EV, immediately starts getting ready for 2016.
Obama still isn't quite that old, so I don't see him leaving politics outright. He is a constitutional scholar, so perhaps some future Democrat could appoint him to the Supreme Court, and I suppose a political comeback in the early 2020s is a possibility if the election is close but pretty much certain, a la 2004.
Really, these threads about Obama or Romney losing are idiotic, because so much depends on the circumstances of the loss. (And Obama losing, with Romney becoming President, is certainly a legitimate possibility.)
