Hillary Clinton narrowly defeats Obama for the Demcoratic nomination in 2008. She then proceeds to pick him as VP and win the general election. Hilalry is reelected in 2012. Hillary manages to pass healthcare reform, cap-and-trade, amnesty for illegals, and financial reform (in her first term). The U.S. economy goes into a recession in 2016. Unemployment is 6.7% of Election Day. In 2016, the Democrats nominate Obama, while the GOP nominates Senator John Thune. Obama promises to continue Clinton's policies and argues that greater govt. spending is the key to getting the U.S. economy out of recession. Thune runs on an anti-big govt. platform and strongly argues in favor of free amrket principles, saying that the recession was caused by too much govt. involvement. Hilalry and Bill Clinton also actively campaign for Obama throguhout the country in an effort to help his presidential bid. How would this election turn out? You pick the VPs. Discuss, with maps.

Obama/McCaskill-275 EV-48.91%
Thune/Daniels-263 EV-49.53%

Obama narrowly wins the EV by pulling off a 796 vote win in Arizona. However, Thune wins the PV. Afterwards, Democrats begin to defend the EC while Republicans begin to attack it. The reasons I would have Obama win are Bill and Hillary's campainign for him, the fact that the recession just began, and because I think he would scare people about Thune becoming a second Bush Jr.

I doubt Obama would win after 8 years of the Dems being in the white house.

Bush Sr. won in a landslide after the GOP was in the WH for 8 years.
