Humphrey narrowly defeats Nixon in 1968. He removes all U.S. troops from Vietnam as a ceasefire is signed there which keeps Vietnam divided. He does not establish ties with China, though. Unemployment is 4.9% and inflation is 3.5% on election day 1972. Who would win in this scenario? Discuss, with maps.

Using 1968 numbers, election goes to the House, which'd probably select Humphrey.

No way would the South have voted for either of those candidates.

What if there was no third-party candidate? I think Humphrey would win in that case due to the good economy.
