^ Yeah, I've been doing my routine searches for HI-Sen/HI-01, but nothing major has come up.

I'd be surprised if Democracy for America doesn 't endorse Chang in CD1, as they're considering him. He looks like the only Democrat here applying for the endorsement.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus endorsed him as well.

Filing closed and Republicans are stuck with several Some Dudes for HI-Sen. The most notable is Cam Cavasso who got 21-22% against Inouye in '04 and '10. Time to move this to Safe D for good.

Also, Republicans are only contesting 7/25 State Senate seats.

^ The only other real shot they have is SD-23. Clayton Hee (D) is running for LG and Romney came within 20 in that seat.

NYT on this race.

This tidbit at the end was worth noting:

Schatz is coming off as more confident...I'm getting an uneasy/tense vibe from Hanabusa. She's going on the offense more.

Link to video recording of the debate (hopefully it should work). The actual debate starts around the 10 minute mark.

In terms of who won, I'd say it was Lean Schatz. If I were impartial going into it, I'd probably be more impressed with him. Hanabusa improved near the end, but her demeanor was more tense and she didn't make much eye contact with the audience, almost like she was just talking to the moderator.

My biggest issue with Schatz is that he did a ton of name dropping (of Senators he's worked with), he must have named half the Senate. Okay, I get it, you want to work with everyone. It was kinda excessive took and the focus away from Hawaii.

Just my two cents.

I am surprised Obama chose to endorse here...that's certainly helping Schatz out.

There's a bit of a backstory there. Back in 2006, Schatz was one of the local leaders in the draft Obama for Pres. movement. Eventually, he became the spokesman for Obama's campaignin HI. Hanabusa, OTOH, was (is) loyal to the Clintons.

^ Meh, this is basically the HI Congressional thread. The primaries will be over in a few weeks anyway, so both races should cool down after that.

From the Civil Beat Senate poll that Tender posted, they also had a HI-01 poll.

Takai leads Kim 30-23, up from trailing her 30-24 in May.
