I don't know how. But you can teach me i guess.

I don't know how. What do we want it to be like? Do we want to use some sort of Confederate symbolism? What exactly is our symbol? Statesrights, you need to think about these things, you're the founder!

The original Stars and Bars is a far better flag... it is a great shame that as with the swastika a symbol that did stand for something completely different is now synonymous with bigotry and hatred...

That said I would say that the stars and bars is not quite a popularly reviled as the swastika... but as anything other than a state's flag no... and the best symbol of southern independent is the original starts and bars... show bellow...

It looks nicer and is free from the inaccurate connotations that a few "yahoos" (to quote Shelby Foote) have lead many to associate the latter version of the flag with...

Actually isn’t that symbol that is suggested (the shield with the stars and bars and then a map of the south) the symbol for the fringe “Southern National Party”?

It is the symbol for some radical group, but we can highjack it. And yes the genuine Confederate flag is nicer than the stars and bars, but I am not opposed to using either of them

I agree with Ben. Oh, and Ben you are welcome to join us if you wish!

I appreciate the offer but as a staunch Democrat I could never do so Smiley

But I look forward to civil and enlightening debate with you and your new party. But a Democrat I am and a Democrat I shale remain. That said if the present Dem platform is endorsed by the Convention, I have said I will reject it and that may forced me to join another party at lest for the period of this election Wink but I doubt that I would fit into the southern republican party, I’m too populist really, but stranger things have happened so its no impossible Smiley

What is your platform?

I am definately a populist. I keep begging people to form a social conservative-econmic liberal party with me, but nobody likes the idea.

ok...so what is going on w/ this party?

We can highjack it and turn it into a populist party, or we can just continue with it as is, an all around conservative party. My four party only system was better

Frankly I don't mind the Confederate Flag, and this party seems good. If the Republicans do die (hopefully not) I will join the Southern Republicans, even though I am from Iowa.

You are certainly one of the more intelligent people on this forum and I would love to have you in our party.

These are certainly not set in stone. If you have any complaints, I urge you to tell me. We can compromise

-We believe abortion should only be an option in cases of rape, incest, or when the health of the mother or child is at stake.
- We believe marriage is between a man and a woman, period.
- We believe that this nation must openly engage rogue nations that seek to harm us or our allies.
- We oppose affirmative action, as it only causes more discrimination and divides us when we need to unite.
-We believe in protecting the 2nd amendment, but want only the responsible to be able to purchase firearms

Ok, what are your opinions on the death penalty and the role of government? Taxes? What other issues do you think we need to focus on?

That is good. But I have some questions. Do we believe in civil unions?
On Death Penalty- I believe in it as long as they are 100% sure they did the crime
Taxes- I think we should have a flat rate.
Role of government-I have no clue maybe statesright can answer that one

What are your feelings on Civil Unions? I feel that if they aren't calling it marriage then it isn't marriage. I also think that homosexual couples should not be allowed to adopt or act as foster parents.

Ok, I will add those to the platform and put the platform on the first post of the thread

Maybe we should can the name and let anyone in?

We have a ton of people wanting to get in. While I would like a Southern party, we can do better by going nationwide. If it is ok with you Josh, I will announce a name change. StatesRights hasn't been around, and has only posted once on this thread. With all respect to him, it is our party.

What name should we use?

Hmm mabye the Atlas Right Party, or maybe the Atlas Freedom Party or The American Party, or the United Whig Party thats all I can think of.

The United Whig Party is fine. How about the Christian Democrats(taking a cue from Europe)? We would be the ACD

P.S. We could also call ourselves the Atlas National Party(ANP)

I don't Know about the Christian Democrats one, because what if you are a christian and you want to join?.. The Whig Party is fine, maybe.. If any other member of this party as a name please tell us.

No, it doesn't have anything to do with religion! That is just the name of the major conservative movements of Europe, Christian Democrats. Anyway, as I mentioned above, how about the Atlas National Party(ANP)?

So then you would become.... the Republican Party that you were 2 days ago?

Am I the only one around here who sees this as nutty?

I don't even understand the basic concept at work here.  Is it a new party or is it just an organization working within the AFRNC?  If it is a new party, why was it originally called the Southern Republican Party and why is changing back to the way it was before it was changed?

And why, when it was the Southern Republican Party were they letting Reaganfan and PBrunsel--who are not from the south--join.  I just don't get it....

Listen, the parties are changing. People were jumping ship over to that terrible organization known as the UAC. So we formed a regional party. Then we realized that was going nowhere because people couldn't join that wanted to. Then we decided that we would be Southern only in nature. Now we realize that that is impractical. We are now a conservative alternative to the sinking ship. Just trying to revitalize the base I guess. The GOP fell apart, and hopefully this party will rise from its ashes
