I ask people to support this bill, we have given Puerto Rico the chance to have a vote to joint Atlasia and why shouldn't our Pacific Territories have a chance?

As for what Gabu said, if it was that low I wouldn't have even introduced this in the first place. A state with only about 100,000 people would be insane.

All instances of "American Samoa" are stricken from the bill.

Would it be possible to include the Atlasian Virgin Islands in this legislation so that, if the legislation passes, it would not be the only territory without elected representation?

The problem is that the three islands in this legislation are in the Pacific and the Virgin Islands are in the Caribbean. It wouldn't be that compatible of a state IMO.

We can amend the Puerto Rico act to include the Virgin Islands with it.

Not really, what we could do is have another bill that would allow the VI to have a vote to see whether they want to join Puerto Rico in statehood.

But I should say that my original bill back in July had the VI with it and Ford (then GM) had people in the VI demonstrating against being in a state with Puerto Rico because the culture is different.

I introduce this amendment.

VI. Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef and Wake Island shall be part of the state of Pacifica.

This amendment would add all the uninhabited islands in the Pacific into this state so if Pacifica does become a state we'd have no territories left in the Pacific. This would also add a few military bases to Pacifica giving it more importance.

Would there be a way to just admit states by legislative act, without leaving it to fictional referenda?

Yes, with the amendment we have in the Senate we could just admit states.

I have changed my amendment per Ernest's request and took Midway and Palmyra out of the amendment but insist on leaving the other territories (Kingman and Johnson in).

This amendment has passed.

Anyway I have a new amendment to introduce also based on Ernest's earlier suggestions.

VII: Palmyra Atoll and Midway Island shall become part of the state of Hawaii

This amendment makes it so even if Pacifica doesn't vote for statehood these territories will become part of Hawaii.

Again, we are basically forcing statehood either way with these territories.

Nay on the amendment.

The vote hasn't started yet, and the islands have no permanent inhabitants.

Well when the vote starts it will still get a Nay from me unless you can clear things up. I'm not noticing much of a point in making these islands part of a state. What would we get out of this?

We wouldn't have any territories left in the Pacific if this passed, they'd all be part of states. Besides they don't really have any population so they can't vote.

I understand that they can't vote but I don't understand is why we would want these islands as part of a state. What change does this bring? I see no reason to change their territory status.

Because there is no reason for them to stay territories when they can just as easily become part of a state. They are uninhabited and can easily be administrated by the state with no adverse effects. There really is no reason to have them stay territories.

Not enough votes to override it even if Yates switched so I won't be going for an override.

An I'll just say it's a horrid veto Mr. President, the worst you've made. Sad

Not at all, it makes perfect sense to refuse to lump Atlasian Samoa in with Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

He'd have vetoed it even if it wasn't in there. He did veto Puerto Rico. Sad

One is about making territories that have no say in Atlasia a state. The most recent comment was about the Northeast grabbing land away from the Mideast. Big difference, stop trying to spin my words Mr. Bell.
