Have to laugh in a sick way when Vos/Fitzgerald try to hit Evers on taking a unilateral approach to COVID. Coming from the two guys who have refused to have the legislature meet since March and are using public money to fight a court case to overturn the mask mandate when they could do it in a day through their day jobs (of course while their base areas are in deep red trouble from it).

Vos in particular seems like an especially odious individual.

He's an evil man, he's for sure running against Evers in 2022.

Can't post a source right now but the recall effort has failed, they're suspending their operations.

Vos won’t lose, but he’s acting a bit freaked out:

What are the voting patterns in his district like?

It's a rural and small town deep red district and has been for a long time. It won't flip, he could probably rape someone or eat a baby and they'd still re-elect him with an R next to the name.

Imagine the turnout in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties was low after that lake-effect snow dump. Missed the vote due to the crazy snow, asked for a mail ballot late, they sent it without the ballot and couldn't make it last night.

Although if I remember correctly, didn’t it expire Monday anyway?

This prevents it from being enacted again.

The Republican Party won't be happy until all the poors are dead.

Ah, that makes sense. Well, at least this is almost over.

Bodes very poorly for the next pandemic.

for a swing state Wisconsin seems to produce a lot of rabid, borderline psychotic conservatives.

Matches up perfectly in that Wisconsin conservatism (at least in the east) is still ruled by talk radio.

Man, what is up with wisconsin voting in these "nonpartisan" (but partisan) races? edu chief, court justice, etc.

The state voted for like 13 points for the liberal justice and only a few months later, trump loses the state by half a point.

Huge differences in turnout numbers.
State Superintendent races are heavily Democratic electorates.

is there a particular reason why?

the state is as purple as they come on national, gubernatorial, and senatorial races.

Why the blue tinge downballot?

This isn't specific to Wisconsin but Democrats could benefit from ultra low turnout in nominally non-partisan races thanks to relatively strong statewide unions. The union vote might be in decline but the educational unions of Dane in particular still provide a solid floor of support, particularly when ultra low information voters won't just see the R or the D and cast a vote based on culture. As far as I know the Wisconsin Republicans don't really have any equivalent foundation to drive turnout in low stake elections even if they have a slight edge in a normal election year. Usually it takes either religious issues or taxes to motivate Republican turnout in the Midwest and the State Superintendent really doesn't have much to do with either.

Eastern Wisconsin is ruled by talk radio. But Kerr is basically a very moderate Dem so they weren’t going to push her.

And Vos said with Underly winning and unions controlling education they will not increase funding to the DPI. Robins little temper tantrums show the need for removal of gerrymandering.

Unless the absentees skew much differently, looks like it’s going to be Johnson vs. Donovan.  In other words, a generic D vs. R. race, as Donovan is the GOP-aligned candidate.  It would have been interesting to see how Johnson would do against Dimitrijevic, Lucas, or Taylor in a 2-way race.

Bathroom Bob is going to lose by 40% again. When you’re known for bathroom peeping, alcoholism and actually saying black culture is destroying the city you know you’re toast.

Republicans are getting hammered right now because:

1. Vos and Republicans are refusing to legalize even medical marijuana.
2. Vos and Republicans are dumping millions into Gableman's sham election investigation. He won't stop and just reported that the legislature should overturn the election again.

How likely is Johnson to win the mayor election today? I have heard some talk an upset is possible.

I expect Johnson to beat Bathroom Bob Donovan by about 40%. Second failure so he can go back to Greenfield and drink himself to death.

Pretty unlikely. He’s not very popular in MKE. Also weird that he’s even allowed to run for mayor while serving in the senate

You’re confused, wrong Johnson.

Donovan is going to flee the city to Greenfield and going to find some dive bar to drink himself to death in. Stay out of the bathrooms there though as he’s a predator.

I know the drinking part, but fill me in on the bathroom part?

He was arrested back in the early 90s peeping into a UWM bathroom stall through a hole. He admitted to going there numerous times to watch men and jerk it. So he’s the “law and order” candidate of course.

Considering his young age and that Milwaukee mayors tend to stick around forever, I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson is still mayor 30 years from now. He's only the fourth of mayor of Milwaukee elected since 1960.

Yes, it’s probably his for as long as he wants it and he could set the length in office record if he wants.

As a Wisconsinite, who do you think will be the nominee at this point?

Tossup but would lean Barnes. He’ll help boost black turnout but his history will hurt in most other areas of the state. Will probably have the worst margins in rural areas too.

Elderly Crookfield residents don’t want “poor” people in there. However they are having a lot of white, married, liberal millennials moving in which terrifies them just as much.

My party’s base makes worse decisions in primaries than a random group of chimpanzees from the zoo would.

As WOW has moderated it has allowed the Trumpian, rural conservatives to take control of the party.

So Wisconsin Republicans banned meningitis and chicken pox vaccine mandates. They want to kill kids and make sure people can have unnecessary shingles later in life. Great pro life stance.
