Our "election results reporting system" in Connecticut is a fax machine. Unless the Secretary of the State here is capable of making a sudden leap to the 21st century (unlikely), I would rather have unofficial results not be released until the counting and certification process is complete. In 2010 the (Democratic) Secretary of the State called the election for Malloy whilst Foley was still in the lead. She had good reasons for doing so - the vote in Bridgeport hadn't been tabulated yet - but it certainly looked untoward.
