I don't know many people with a negative opinion of LBJ...He seems to have very high approval ratings today.

The republicans will be able to hammer the hell out of him about Vietnam.

LBJ would then counterattack Bush Jr. about Iraq, Katrina, the financial crisis, and his extreme fiscal irresponsibility. Again, a lot of people have favorable opinions of Medicare and civil rights. That should pull LBJ over the top by far.

Iraq was more successful than Vietnam

It's debatable whether that will be true in the long run. Besides, last time I checked a majority of the American people/voters said that going into Iraq in the first place was a mistake. LBJ will ask people "Was it really worth it for the U.S. to go in there in the first place and spend 750 billion on something that didn't affect us?" Besides, both Vietnam and Iraq were based on false pretenses. Finally, LBJ did a lot more good things (on the domestic front) than Bush Jr. did.

Yea like create a society where people can stay home and smoke weed while they collect their welfare check. Bush would point out all the schools being built in a country less fortunate than our own, giving Iraqi women the right to vote, the horrible things that Saddam did. Bush was the president who helped the less fortunate, not Johnson. Those who Bush helped couldn't even return the favor by voting for him. The voting rights act and civil rights bill were politically designed to build a base. It was a disgraceful time for our nation and will forever live in infamy. Every night I was taught to thank God for President Bush before I went to sleep. Now I'm beginning to understand why.

Bush did a lot of good things for Iraqis (using massive amounts of our taxpayer money that we didn't have), but LBJ (unlike Bush) did a lot of good things for Americans. Before LBJ came along, blacks were frequently lynched in the South and prevented from voting. Also, old people were less well off because Social Security wasn't enough to cover all their expenses.

Johnson was a socialist who bought votes from Americans with the tax dollars of people who didn't vote for him.
