2008 happens as it normally did.  McCain still makes his comment about the economy being strong etc etc.

Bloomberg does well in debates on the economy, says he will refuse to take a Presidential salary and polls relatively well for an independent candidate.

Hagel performs okay in the debates criticizing the war in Iraq amongst other things.

McCain implies publicly that he will be a one term President.

Bloomberg spends at least $1 billion on the campaign, maybe more (How much does he have to spare?).
