Fujimori, junior and senior, would never even think of voting anything other than Republican. (Don't blame me: alt-universe Steve from Lima would have voted for Pedro Castillo.)
Alberto run to the left of MVLL in the 1990 elections (well, in economic issues, but it was what mattered in that election). Also, he was more of a pragmatist following the Washington Consensus than an ideological right winger. Obviously, his life has make him more of a right winger since the 90s.
Now, I don't think he would have entered politics outside of a particular context like Peru in the late 80s and early 90s. That didn't happen in the USA.
