In terms of popular vote (as per current results), Trump did barely better than McCain in 2008 (46.4% v. 45.7%), which also makes his number second-lowest for a Republican candidate since Bush Sr. 1988 win.

At the same time he won more electoral votes since GHWB in 1988 (as well as been the only Republican candidate since to surpass 300 Ev's).
