Opinion of Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father (sane).

Jefferson was full of s**t on so many things, but the slavery issue is perhaps the most telling. Just let's compare him with George Washington, whose views gradually evolved from accepting slavery as something "obvious" to opposing it. He did not mistreat his slaves and, before death, he actually freed them. Jefferson was a hypocrite full of noble slogans. Was he worse than many other Virginia gentlemen? No, but that doesn't make him a nice guy.
