Just finished a novel I've been working on for almost a year. It feels kind of sad to see the work completed.

I went on a 90~ minute hike yesterday and got chewed up by mosquitoes, bigly! Just want to rip my arms off to stop the itching Sad

Little bastards probably gave me Zika too

Sorry to hear. Mosquito are annoying here as well.

Seriously, what's the point of their existence?

I went to swim on three separate occasions today. I guess we all need cooling off, not just because of the weather :/

It was, most surprisingly, a very good day for me.

It won't last long, I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In sadder news our cat passed away today that we've had for 13 years. Got her as a rescue kitten back in '03, and been much loved since

I'm so sorry, Blair. As someone who can't imagine living without cats I know all to well how saddening this can be Sad

Jill Stein is now the preferred candidate of my work place.

Are you working for RT?

I guess I'll limit my activity to Lumine's game, and possibly some Atlasian stuff, for a time being.

My grandpa fell down the stairs and broke his humerus. He's 82, so it's obviously harder on him than it would be on someone younger Sad

I hope he gets better soon.
^^^^ Sorry to hear that.
...I know what you meant, but the way you quoted my post instead of Kal's makes it seem like you're sorry to hear that I hope Kal's grandfather gets better soon.

That is, for the record, not what I meant. Tongue

Thanks, guys.

As it turned out, those idiots at hospital didn't bother to check him thoroughly and he has some broken ribs in addition. But after being to hospital again, he's better. He can't lie down and then get up, so he's sitting until a special bed arrives tomorrow.

You know what's utterly f**ked up? We've had to call for four diffrent places to get a damn transport ambulance to come, and they finally sent a emergency ambulance by mishap.

Today at work (county courthouse), in the parking lot, there was a big pickup truck displaying a huge Confederate flag (next to a tiny US flag).

In South Dakota?

Yeah.  It's not something I see everyday, but I even saw it in Washington state once.

I'm sure you can find at least one of such nuts as far north as Vermont.

Bookstores? I vaguely remember those. Nowadays, I run into books most often in antique shops.

It's somehow a cross between normal bookstore/antique store. Great place just feets away from my place.

Among those are:

The Napoleon of Notting Hill (G. K. Chesterton - a yuuge reactionary but a good writer)
Close to Home and Tragic Ground (Erskine Caldwell)
The Appeal (John Grisham)
White Teeth (Zadie Smith)
Audat ar-ruh (Tawfiq al-Hakim; I don't know what's the English title)
Ashenden: Or the British Agent (W. S. Maugham)
State of Fear (Michael Crichton)
Tyrant Banderas (Ramón del Valle-Inclán)

Some other titles I have no patience identyfing by English title, plus some biographies.

We really need a dedicated "Tender Branson Update" thread, don't we?

So long as AAD doesn't steal it too, I'm inclined to say yes

I would gladly leave Tender to AAD.

I'm running off to Eastern Europe tomorrow and probably won't be back until early October. I should still be able to post, but I'll probably be on here a lot less often until I get back. Here's hoping absolutely nothing interesting happens between now and the debates!

Wow, you sure get to travel, have fun and don't let the totalitarians bite.

Reported for personal attack.
