After a long break, I realized I lost touch with my original Wanda story and since I don't feel like simply updating it, I shall rewrite the story with major improvements.

You see, the major problem preventing me from just continuing an old version is that I simply screwed up a fundamental element of the story: geographic location. Western part of the Florida Panhandle was cool but, I can't just erase the oldest Florida roots located there, especially Pensacola.

Currently I'm considering three alternatives:

1. As per original Ernest's guess: OTL Jacksonville area, which gives us a small Southern state between Georgia and Florida.

2. Alabama coastal counties (Mobile and Baldwin). I know Mobile had a relatively long history before, but it's a very nice place on the map. Of course it would make Alabama a landlocked state, unless I'll give her part of Florida panhandle. I already have sort of backstory for this development.

3. Finally, a hardcore version: state located really far South, in OTL Miami area. Until 20th century, Southern Florida wasn't a populated area and this gives me an area and plausibility. What's most hardcore? Wanda would be the only state bordering just one state.

I don't know how you feel about boatloads of Cuban refugees taking up residence in Wanda, but that may well be a consequence of the southerly location. Just sayin'.

Yes, but it won't be an issue until 1960s at least. Story starts in early 19th century.
