What madness! I must ask, indeed, how did a rabble-rouser such as this Polack fellow manage to earn membership within our esteemed Gentleman's Society?

I believe I owe you an explanation, sir. I didn't earn a membership, I simply hit the butler and entered this room.

Now, sir, you'll have to excuse me. I'll be busy with throwing this bomb on you.

I do hope my friends from Pole-Land can regain their dukedom from the Czar.

Sir, I am grossly dissapointed with you. The proper term, a gentleman should use, is Tsar, not Czar. Czar? That how ordinary people say it.

Say, Yanks what's happening over there. Is Mr Coolidge a shoo in?

Goodness no! Have you lost your senses, my noble companion? The Hon. Mr. Davis is a man with an impressive amount of experience on diplomatic and legal areas. Furthermore, he comes from a truly distinguished household. A good blood is not something, I'm sure you're aware of, ballot box can defeat.

Surely you must remember the Roosevelt defeat of 1912?

Naturally. That's because Roosevelt betrayed his own noble roots and joined a strange company of anarchists or how they were calling themselves... Progressives? Oh yes. Silly name indeed.

Mr. Davis mainstream run cannot be possibly compared to this.

Now, if you excuse me, I have to leave your company to use a place no gentleman shall mention... BUTLER! GRAB TOILET PAPER AND COME WITH ME.

What are your opinions of this second iteration of the Ku Klux Klan?

Those people are just disguisting. But we must remember those are mostly very simple people, who simply doesn't posses enough education and culture to understand that it's up to men of our position to keep the right Southern way via legal means.

I shall play a Dixie elitist from now on

I find it very silly that we continue to discuss the up-coming American election with such interest. While we here are debating whether or not to switch from one party representing capitalism and all its worst excesses to the other representing capitalism and all its worst excesses plus a healthy dose of neo-Confederate racism and bigotry, real progress and a glimpse of this country's and the world's future is occurring in Russia! Though harsh censorship, scare campaigns and in-fighting have temporarily retarded the growth of our own communist movement, parties across Europe are making real gains. The Communists in Germany gained some 10% at the last election! I am just hopeful that workers across the continent (and hopefully one day on our own shores) continue to turn to Marxism, instead of that incipient brand of thug politics preached by that Mussolini fellow. Luckily I think only the Italians are depraved enough to elect a couple of blackshirted criminals to be in charge of their country.

Certainly you are a fool, a Red provocateur, or both.  We do have a real choice in this election, and that choice is "Fighting Bob".  I, for one, look forward to casting my ballot for real, strong, progressive action.

Dear Lord, have you lost your senses? Anyway, I wonder how such a dangerous demagogue like this whole Mr. La Follette entered such a distinguished body like the United States Senate in first place. This man does not belong to this noble place. He's dangerous radical and must be stopped.

Butler! Where is my tea?

Gentlemen, how would you grade my projections for the upcoming election?

President Coolidge - 308 collegiate votes
Mr. Davis - 183 collegiate votes
Sen. LaFollette - 40 collegiate votes

I expect Senator LaFollette to do well in the states won by Roosevelt in 1912, but to gain collegiate votes only in the West, Minnesota, and his native Wisconsin.

No, no, no. Despite all his poor judgements, Mr. Roosevelt was at least a true gentleman. This is impossible to seriously compare him to a demagogue like Mr. La Follette.

I'm an ardent supporter of Governor LaFollette's reform agenda. With the threat of the abomination that is socialism running high in Europe, only a reformer can prevent the working classes from rushing head forward into the wall of Bolshevism. With Russia's revolution increasingly looking like soemthing that won't vanish before the end of the decade, the last thing this world needs is yet another peripheral nation with great potential falling into the arms of the ghosts of the despicable jew Marx.

Belgianliberal

Hm, maybe, just maybe, Mr. La Follette is a honest man, but foolish one as well, sadly. Doesn't he realize that he's about to carry a socialist meance to the White House on his back?

While I applaud Mr. Ataturk's courageous reforms, aiming at modernizing what was, for a long time, a sick man of Europe, there's one, tiny perhaps, thing I cannot forgive him. I mean his reform of Turkish language by replacing Arabic alphabet with Latin one.

This is just a crime against aesthetics, won't you agree?

I cannot avoid a feeling that after Mr. Stressman's death, the Weimar Republic was already destined to collapse, and the only question was, which force will do it: Nazis, Nationalists or even Communists. The system side was just lacking people with an experience, position and courage to defend it.

As much as I respect Mr. von Hindenburg, who was a magnificent soldier, as Reich President he is a sad disappointment, being, perhaps due to his advanced age, easy to manipulate for such charlatans as Mr. von Papen or Mr. von Schleicher.

As of your statement, Lord Afleitch, I don't have any sympathy for what Mr. Stalin represents, but I cannot possibly deny that he is one of the most skilled politicial strategists of this century.

I can believe that, down in his heart, Mr. Long is a good man, dedicated for his country. But his methods worries me. Granted, general population of Louisiana is poorly educated so primitive rhetoric can be only useful tool. I agree one cannot be soft when it comes to fighting old, corrupt guard but the valid question is, can this man do more good or more harm with his methods?

As of Father Coughlin, I'm also amazed with an incredible amount of power he got via radio... funny thing, but I can imagine one day, people would be able to control the entire societies with radio, or some new device. Your thoughts, gentlemen?

Sure, sometimes he lets loose a little Durham; but, far as I'm concerned, if he likes Roosevelt, he's just ducky.

Sir, I dislike both "guilty by association" and "innocent by association" attitudes. Your stance disappoints me.

As I predicted, Comrade Lief stands firm behind Stalin's message.  You can see the puppet strings connected from the Kremlin to his shoulders.  Should the peace between Germany and the USSR end, mark my words, Lief will be demanding immediate American intervention to save his workers' paradise.  You Reds are the most disgustingly predictable people in politics.  Whatever Stalin wants, you want.

Also, I see Comrade Lief have no problems at all with his Big Comrade sending an innocent, Polish workers to the snow of Siberia.

Quite so, Kalwejt.  (By the way, are you safe?)  The vicious Soviet backstabbing and invasion of Poland, followed by its brutal annexations of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, followed by its gruesome invasion of Finland demonstrate clearly for the world that Stalin is just as much of a tyrannical expansionist as Hitler is, with the added threat of his brainwashed puppets establishing a major stake in every country on the planet.

I'm, fortunately, safe. I was able to, when it all collapsed, relocate to Romania, but now the Romanian Government places us into their internment camps. We're safe, but frustrated, as we wanted to go to France to join Polish army there.

As of the Soviet repressions, my close friend was a devoted communist, a true idealist, which I admired, no matter how I disagreed with his positions. Last time I heard of him, he was taken by NKVD. And he couldn't be possibly considered a "capitalist" nor a "reactionary".

I don't understand why some people still have illusions after what happened in the late 1930s to many communist, that never returned from Moscow.

Finally some good news. Me and my two friends managed to leave our involuntary Romanian residency without our hosts permission. We're on the route to France.

Unfortunately, we have to pass through Switzerland. Wish me luck, friends, since Swiss are very sensitive about their neutrality (unsurprisingly) and won't have any second thoughts to -detain any foreign soldiers within their borders.

Pish posh. Unlike the last big European war, I highly doubt the United States will become involved in this one. What could we possibly have to gain in breaking our isolationism?
^^^^^
I'm so glad that Congress passed the neutrality acts. It's a guarantee that we will stay out. Let Europe fend for itself. We have our own problems. The US never need concern itself with the miseries of Poland.

I really think you're seriously underestimating the threat Mr. Hitler is representing. You may think it's just Poland, it's just Norway, it's just another target, but this man is not Wilhelm I, an old gentleman (pardon, my French friends), who just took Alsace-Lorraine. No, my friend, Hitler won't stop until the entire Europe is his. You may think, that's just Europe, why should it concern us? Wrong. Aspirations of the Nazi menace are global.

I, for one, express glee that our Polish friend is safe, for certain values of safe.  Are you planning to proceed through France into Spain, or are you going to try your luck with General Petain's new regime?

Speaking of France, I hear a French general escaped the fall and is trying to organize resistance among the French abroad.  While I doubt how effective he'll be, I have to admire this General de Gaulle.

Despite my distaste for nature of General Franco's regime, Spain is still a place one can use for a safe passage to England or, eventually, to their posessions overseas. I'm going to try mu luck with Spain.

Speaking of Mr. de Gaulle, I'm affraid he'll face a great odds. Marshal Petain is still a hero and an authority for the French population, Meanwhile, de Gaulle's name is virtually unknown for them. I wish him luck and, despite those obstacles, he seems a right person, with his determination and bravery, to do something.

On a side note, Mr. de Gaulle participated in French mission during our war with the Bolsheviks, even taking his part in combat. That makes my admiration even greater.

And so it seems our esteemed club has been infiltrated by a Communist.  Mr. Mikado ( apparantly a Jap no less) concerns himself with the Negroes and thinks Stalin is reasonable! We cannot allow even this modest organization to be overcome by reds. We must remove the sympathizer immediately. He has dangerous ideas.

The fact, I'm forced to stay in the British Islands, since the communists already arrested some of my friends, who decided to return, have nothing to with people like you discriminating Negroes in the Southern states the very way communists are presecuting all, who disagree with them.
