Simply for the sake of picking a woman? They seemingly did that once already, and that strategy blew up in their face.

Are there women who are qualified to fit the VP spot, and deserve serious consideration? Absolutely. Picking any one of Martinez, Rice, Haley, and Ayotte might come along with talk of pandering and identity politics, but any insinuation that they're unqualified--coming from Democrats--will look a little silly.
