 You are being a bigot right now. All prejudice is stupid. Not liking somebody because where they are from is like not liking somebody because they were born on a Tuesday. It is true that certain places may have certain trends of people but this does not justify any prejudice. If you want to be liberal, then you have to treat everybody you meet like an individual and not attach labels to them. You attack the south for being prejudice but you are doing it yourself. Being from the south means you are from the south, it does not mean you are racist or whatever.

Bigots exist everywhere, no one is denying this, but they exist in a more concentrated fashion in the old Confederacy.

I'm not claiming my state is any better here either, Ohio sucks, but Ohio was not on the forefront of defending slavery and opposing a woman's right to vote.

Over 3/4 of the people in NC never owned slaves and the first time NC voted to pull out of the union it failed. The only reason it did pull out of the union because Lincoln wanted NC to attack SC.

As I said, bigots exist everywhere but more exist in the South than any other region. Any region that had a state that didn't ratify the 19th Amendment until the 80's and another state that voted to keep segregation wording in state law in 2004 deserves no real respect.

If you guys really want to read a non-bias read on Southern life then you can read it here. There is no other place in the world like the south. The friendlyness and welcomeness most southerners have isn't found in other places in the US. The lay back, take life as it is feeling we have. The rich music history the south has. The pretty landscape it has. THe south is a great place, and if you come down to the south with the mind that you will hate it then you will.
