The Governor's Cottage

- Welcome to my new official residence  and office, fellow Mideasterners. Smiley

If you have any concerns about the Region, or want to ask a question, this is the place. You are of course welcome to address me through PM as well.

Now let's get down to buisness.

Governor's update #1

- I'd like to make an official statement condeming the attempt by far-left elements in this country to take over our Goverment and overthrow our democracy by violent force. I'm especially disappointed in you Al. Shame on you. This will have harsh consiquenses for you. I will act to remove these rebells from our region, and have them prosecuted and put away.

(PS: Al we're still up for tea on Sunday. I made cookies.)

I'd like to veto this, but considering the vote was five in favour I see no point as it would be overriden, and would only cause a lot of procedural work and a minor delay. So...

Seriously, what's wrong with my cottage?
It's too small, and I just don't get warm vibes.
With all the earmarks I've recieved and all the money I've got from working the streets, I'd be happy to supply you with a new home. Smiley

Alrighty then.

I'll settle on something like this.

Bigger garden though... oh and a swimming pool while you're at it. Tongue

That would be Drottningholm Palace. The current home to the Swedish king and his wife. Very beautiful place and definatley worth a visit if you ever are in the Stockholm area on vaccation.

Well I don't want to waste any unecessary money, so keeping the Longhouse as a guest home would be a reasonable idea.

Well you know, I kinda like my cottge. Make me feel like home. Wink (It actually looks like a smaller version of m dad's house)

What do you say we just use the extra money to do something good for the Mideast people... like a giant chocolate statue of the two of us in the center of Maryland, compltete with a roof for rainy days? Tongue

Preview of the Ballot for March ME Assembly Elections

Here's preview of what the ballot will look like. Please if anyone spots any mistakes let me know and I'll make sure to correct it for the final ballot.

Good luck to all candidates.

Isn't the order of the names set by the order of the declarations of candidacy ?

There's no specified rule, as far as I could find, and I thought it simpler to order you guys alphabeticly. I guess I could change it though, since it's the standing president, and it doesn't matter to me anyway.

Because that's the way my predecessor did it Wink
Besides I think we should encourage voters to know something about the candidates they vote for, and not just cast their ballot based on the letters next to their name.

That is the purpose of a party-- to represent itself on a ballot with a candidate for its members.

If that is the only purpose of a party, they're rather pointless. Sorry but this is the way the ME Governor has constructed the ballots for as long as I've been in Atlasia, and I'm not planing to change it. It worked well when Inks was Governor, so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

Fellow Mideasterners

I'm in the sad position to inform you that your Governor's computer has been invaded by a vicious malwere virus which is plucking up the whole system. Hopefully this little problem can be solved by the Governor's older brother when he returns back from a military exercise on Monday. If not I'd just like to give you heads up that I might not be on the Atlas very much for a few days before I have the problem sorted out.

In other news:

Official Certification

Aye - 12
Nay - 1

The amendment is approved by the Mideast Region

   - Fellow Mideasterners

- I come to you today with the news that I have no intention to run for re-election as Governor of the region. This is a decision I have reached a few weeks ago. With much going on in real life, I simply don’t have enough time or energy to put into the game at the present moment.

- I believe that the Mideast deserves a Governor who’s active and dedicated, and since I suspect my time spend in Atlasia will decline the coming months, I only find fair that I should open up the race for other candidates. Four months ago I ran against Inks, wanting to see someone else have a chance at the Governorship, now I feel that I should step aside in order for another person to be able to test their wings in this office as well.

Governor of the Mideast has been a really nice job to have, and I’m satisfied with the job I have done, even though there are areas where I wish to have done better. I believe I have had a good working relationship with the Assembly during my time in this cottage, and I would like to congratulate Speaker Inks and all the other assemblymen for the increase in activity we have seen in this latest assembly.

- Now in order for there to be no rumours I want to make one thing clear. No I’m not running for President, Vice President, Senator, or any other office in the near future. Neither do I intend to leave Atlasia behind. I will stay active, just to smaller extent. And don’t worry, once I find myself having more spare time again, I will get right back to my political career here at the forum.
