Once upon a time Minouche Shafik, world-renowned economist and one-time favourite to become the UK's chief banker, the BBC is now wont to call Columbia's president "Nemat Shafik." Am I not getting enough sleep or has she actually just changed her name without giving much prior notice (witness how Ava McLean became Elliott two years ago)?
