Negative.

I will say that personally I don't have the best history with Libertas.  However, unlike Hamilton, HoffmanJohn and a few others who have been banned he didn't really do any direct harm to the forum.  Sure he might've been an abrasive poster but at least he didn't flood the boards with tons of random threads (a la Roach), OBSESS over one person or ideology to the point of flooding the boards (HoffmanJohn), or treat people like utter pawns in their quest for total control over an election based sim (Hamilton).  I mean you people have heard of the ignore button, right?  Can't people who read this site also use that button?  Can most people who read this sight also be able to tell that a majority of us don't believe some of the crazier positions of Libertas or use civil debate?
I have to disagree somewhat with some on here who say that this was a leftist plot to get Libertas banned.  I mean after all this is the same forum that banned HoffmanJohn, a stereotypical Dailykos leftist, in a fraction of the time than it took them to ban Libertas.  However as annoying or rude as Libertas may have been, he was at least entertaining to read.  Not to mention his work in the Atlasian Senate.
Now if he had done something like post free autofellatio porn in the Forum Community thread, then yeah I would say that a banning would've been justified.
That isn't to say, however, that he really endeared himself to the forum moderators.  You are a biased lot, THERE I SAID IT.  However, for I would at least maintain a modicum of civility with them to ensure my future survival.

Rant over.

Positive, only because it was not done sooner and more of them weren't banned along with him!

Yes, it's horrible that the board can't be purged of opposing ideologies.

Saying that it's "Dave's board and Dave's rules" isn't really a justification for supporting the ban.  It's like saying you support the "banning" of Jews during World War II because it was "Hitler's Germany and Hitler's rules."  Dave has the right to ban people, sure, but that's not a reason for supporting his actions.

Anyone who is comparing some forum rules to Holocaust and other Nazi crimes need to visit a mental institution. You have just offended a real victims of Nazi policies, some members of my family including.

I am not happy over what has happened but the last thing I would do would be to compare any of the policies on this forum as "Hitlerian" or the mods as "Nazis".  I mean it isn't like Dave ordered the mods to get an internet death squad together to go to Libertas' house to shoot him.  He just got internet banned.

Lack of freedom of speech does not necessarily equal OH NOES NAZISM!!!!!!!!!!  Hell, much freer societies than Nazi Germany routinely violate the right to free speech.  At this current rate it would be more accurate to call the mods on here "Fair Speech retards" (no offense) than it would be to call them "Nazis".

Calling the Atlas Forum Moderators "Nazis" would be insulting the dead Nazi Legions who actually worked hard to get the title "Nazi". [/Jon Stewart]

Did you just call for the banning of Mechman? Angry

Maybe not Mech specifically, but I wouldn't mind the sudden disappearance of Wormyguy Tongue

It sure as hell sounded like you did.
You know Marokai I didn't think you were low enough to judge my entire history on this forum based off of my very lax views on forum governance and opposition to coersion, but I guess I was wrong.  The fact that I don't support the expulsion of Libertas automatically outweighs any civil debate we had in the past in your mind.  It doesn't matter to you that unlike other libertarian forumites I actually tried to be friendly with you instead of tell you to DIAF or something like that.
And now you are going to just label me as "someone who made a career off of being a troublemaker?"  LOL.
First off if you want to get technical about it I am actually making a career off of being good with numbers, hilarious that you assume that since I used to be an extremely active member here that suddenly this forum becomes my "career".  [/facepalm]
Secondly, you forget the amount of contributions (yes shocking I know) that I myself have made to a number of areas on this board, notably the What-if Board.  Granted I am not the most active TL writer here, but every once in awhile I get posts and PMs telling me that I am one of the "What-if" greats.  I'm not bullsh*tting here either.

But you know what?  You probably had a crappy day in the office or something like that, so I'll let this one attack on my whole existence here slide.

In case I didn't make it clearer earlier:

In my defense, I am against Hamilton's banning on the grounds of freedom of speech. I would've been just as outraged if a Neonazi forumer got banned for expressing his opinion as I am over Hamilton. Personally, as much of a jerk I thought Hamilton turned out to be in the last few weeks, the last thing I would've wished on him or anyone else is a banning. Just because this is an internet forum doesn't change my views of free expression, even if I can't stand whoever is saying it.

This is from that thread that Obamaisdabest posted.  And I still live by this code.  I don't oppose the banning of Libertas because it's shocking and oh yeah he's a troublemaker.  I oppose his banning because I oppose all bannings on the principle of free speech and expression.  Did Dave Leip have the right to ban Hamilton?  Yes.  I believe that he even had the right to ban Libertas (because this is Leip's forum).  However that doesn't mean I have to support his decision.
If that makes me a troublemaker worthy of being banned on here, so be it.  Even when HoffmanJohn was banned I didn't jump up applauding yelling "yay!"  I found it sad that he made a "masturbation" thread or something like that, but I sure as hell didn't go around partying like some other libertarians did.
I'm just saying...........
