You know Jas, if you accepted the write-ins for you, you would have a fair shot at winning a seat. Wink

He has, by preferencing himself.

Oh, is that the precedent, great! I would like to see more Midwesterners in the Senate. (Assuming SPC, Duke, and Rowan win too).

Well, I don't know what's "official", but in some countries the one with fewer preferences in the previous round is eliminated.

For those interested these are the percentages as of Jas' last update:

Count 1
38.0% - Lief/Bacon King (JCP)
31.5% - PiT/Smid (PCP)
15.2% - Franzl/Swedish Cheese (DA)
15.2% - Al/Lewis Trondheim (LNF)

Count 2
45.7% - Lief/Bacon King (JCP)
35.9% - PiT/Smid (PCP)
18.5% - Franzl/Swedish Cheese (DA)

Count 3
57.6% - Lief/Bacon King (JCP)
40.2% - PiT/Smid (PCP)
  2.2% - Non-Transferable

Percentage-wise it's a moderate landslide for Lief at this point.

Not a single exciting race this time. Oh well.

Regional Senate races unexciting.
Scientists predict sun to rise tomorrow.
More at 10...

But they are so importantt for teh n00bs so then they can see exciting Altasian elekshinns!

There's a difference between reforming regional Senate seats and abolishing regions, you don't seem to make that distinction.

Not making that distinction seems to be the domain of certain other people.

Both sides do it.

Here are some charts. Evolution of the votes by hour (the two invalid votes are counted).

Number of votes.

Votes %.

Great charts! Smiley

As usual the PCP voted later, but it wasn't enough.

Oh, and the final round was much closer percentage-wise than I would have thought.

Final Round
54.8% - Lief/Bacon King
43.3% - PiT/Smid
  1.9% - Exhausted

I'm surprised Lief was held under 55%.

I'd like to add that the LNF seems to have become a significant force in Atlasian politics. I wouldn't be surprised if they win an at-large seat in December.

Wow, the only reason I moved to the Northeast is because according to Hamilton math I would win something like 22-17.  O well, back to the Dirty South and the at-large December seat

You clearly admit that you registered strategically just to get elected ? I still can't understand how a shameless power-hungry manipulator like you could get 9 votes...

Great maps Antonio!

Interesting that each candidate had one strong region, while the NE didn't have a clear favorite.

The likely defeat of this amendment is profoundly disappointing and erodes my faith in the ability of this game to ever make the changes it needs to make to continue functioning.

Because we're in such a crisis now Roll Eyes

Well, amendments should be VERY difficult to pass just as they are IRL. A conservative amendment would be easy to kill as well, as the Pacfic and one of the MW or NE would likely reject it.

In this case a regional vote makes sense. The DS, the only region with the death penalty at the moment I believe, is protecting their rights to make their own decisions as a semi-sovereign body. I won't debate the merits of the amendment, but its failing due to the system makes some sense in this instance.

This would have failed in the proposed new system  anyway, so you can't really complain this time.

While I don't like the ARC, Mint is a good person and would make a fine member of the Senate.

You know elections are now probably the worst thing about this game. Every single time you get threads of stuff like this.

I hate to say it, but this is due to Hamilton's obsession with recruiting zombies. Hell, even the RPP nor the JCP were this bad.

What's that I smell? Cooked goose? Why yes, yes, it is.

I bet most would agree with me.

And it was Hamilton that started harassing me for no apparent reason, so I'm not criticizing him because I'm a sore loser (incidentally, I can still win as right-wingers typically vote later)

You're not going to win. The actual right-wingers - the social conservatives and the militarists and the corporatists - don't have a dog in this fight. We are slowly but surely shutting them out from the halls of power.  Mint opposes virtually all of their policies; AHDuke most of them; and even you're unfriendly to them in large part. I don't think Hamilton or myself would have a problem with you, though, if you were just consistent.

I have no idea where my "moderate hero" image came from. I thought it was always clear that I was a libertarian-leaner from the day I arrived here. Honestly, can you name a few times reasonably close to each other that  BTW, I hate social conservatives, corporatists, and militarists.

Vepres, you have no chance and never did. That being said, I never attacked you until you attacked me.

The fact is that people I have brought here are now major players, including a cabinet member. I was instrumental in getting members such as Einzige and Winston Disraeli to be active. The Northeast Assembly would not exist without many people I invited, meaning people like cinyc would probably not be very active, having no opportunities.

Xahar, as well, gets credit. His recruiting brought many of the more active members of today into the fold, and I applaud him for that. Tmth, as well. And bgwah.

Honestly, I never liked you, but I don't recall ever publicly criticizing you until you started attacking me in this Senate race.

Oh, and I can win still BTW. The votes are still there.

Duke- corporatist
DWTL- social conservative

Surely, you don't hate them, else you'd not have voted for them.

Roll Eyes

I don't have to vote for somebody who agrees with me 100% now do I?

That's my point - there is not a real right-wing candidate in this election. Not one of the candidates, from the JCP to the ARC to the RPP to the LNF, is an actual right-winger. What we are - what the ARC is - is something radically different, something that nobody has attempted in the history of politics: a left-libertarian-ish alliance. And it's clearly winning. The Radical Right of the forum won't vote for you, because you're not one of them. The political Right here on Atlasia is done, and good riddance to it.

Left-libertarianism... well, I won't go in to it. Needless to say, it's not my favorite ideology. However, the right is not dead, or else Duke would be losing as well.

I didn't know liberal Republicans were considered right-wing simply for being liberal Republicans.

Duke is center-right, but still undeniably right.
