Then why do polls show so many voters in the Democratic Primary choosing RFK Jr. over Biden? He actually polls better than DeSantis does versus Trump.

Because RFK appeals to “Trump Democrats”.

Trump isn't winning 15% of Democrats (the percentage RFK Jr. is currently polling). If he was, he'd win in a landslide nationally.

I suspect there were private talks with Biden. I don't think it matters anyway, as Biden's probably DOA given the likely state of the economy in 2024, no matter who runs third party or as what party they run as.
