Having talked to Riley, I think his outline seems like a good basis to start with (edited to include our name)  -

The Conservative Party is a political party formed on a solid foundation of the Five Principles. Each of the Five Principles envisions an America where people are free to aspire, to achieve, and to live happy, fulfilled lives. This party is a vehicle for defending and promoting the Five Principles in the political and social arena.

Work is the key to pride and fulfillment. Being productive is not only the root of all wealth, it is the root of all satisfaction. The Conservative Party  supports America's powerful culture of entrepreneurship and hard work by opposing expansion of the state into economic realm and modernizing our social safety net to truly help those who need it most.

Family is the foundation of our society. It is easy for individuals to think of themselves as individuals and behave accordingly. However, in order to build a society worth living in, we must all be taught the ways our society functions and how to preserve it. The American family is the vehicle through which future generations are taught the principles of the Republic, encourage children to push themselves to new heights, and provide support when our citizens fall upon dark times. Every child deserves to grow up with two loving parents who care for them and provide the stability demanded by family life.

Security, the protection of society, is a vital role of government. The strongest economy with the most vibrant civil institutions is nothing if it can fall victim to violence. The Conservative Party  will support maintaining a strong national defense to protect against enemies abroad and a responsible, strong respect for law and order to protect our society from within.

Community is the guiding principle for life outside of the household. Our vibrant society is built upon the strong foundation of many energetic communities. Our communities are where much of our lives take place. The Conservative Party supports policies that strengthen the building blocks of our communities such as businesses, civic groups, schools, churches, libraries, and other institutions.

Opportunity is a promise our country makes to each and every citizen. The fundamental premise of America is that where you started in life does not set in stone where you will go in life. We believe that this promise hinges on having a vibrant society, protected and strengthened by the other four principles, and a fundamental belief in the right to self-determination. Upholding our promise of opportunity is contingent on a robust economy to facilitate movement across social boundaries.

Too narrow a definition of the family for me. Single parents, grandparents, aunts etc raise children too. The nuclear family as some 'ideal' is the worst thing ever inflicted on society.

I actually agree with that and I'd support a broader definition of "family" in the final manifesto, although I think it'd be fair to say that most people would agree a two parent family would be best if possible (without that inherently denigrating other family structures).

When we've worked out the structures of the game and start preparing for the election I'm thinking we should probably elect a Leader of the Conservative Party who would be our candidate for Prime Minister.

What would you guys think of the pros and cons re: a vote among MPs vs. a vote among the general membership? The main advantage of the former as I see it is in terms of gameplay - it adds an element of unpredictability, like, um, real life - but obviously the latter is probably the better bet for now.

As the other parties are doing, I suggest we separate party organisation from the parliamentary leadership - we elect a Leader of the party, who will be our candidate for Prime Minister and the public face of the party, and a Chairman and Deputy Chairman to organise the day-to-day logistics of the party.

Lists would be worked out by submissions and discussion between the Leader, Chairman and Deputy Chairman.

Thoughts?

I don't see any other nominations, so unless there's an objection I think we can go ahead and declare the following elected -

Leader of the Conservative Party

Potus, MP

Chair of the Conservative Party

Simfan, MP

Deputy Chair of the Conservative Party

RPryor, MP

Did our party list ever get published? I can't find it, but I could have just missed it.

Yep, it should be in the Election Coverage thread.

A Conservative Victory

As the director of elections or campaign manager my first duty is to congratulate all of our members who won seats in Parliament and helped give the Conservative Party a decisive victory in the general election. Our party's leader, Potus, will now attempt to form a government that can command the confidence of Parliament.

I imagine Potus will have more to say later, but now I just want to thank everyone on behalf of the party for the faith they've shown in us. Thank you also to all those who lent us their support, whatever their politics, because they knew that the Conservatives were ready for the road ahead.

Mr. Chairman, I move that we leave a 24 hour period for objections and, if there are none, the proposed by-laws be adopted.
