Guitar is my first instrument but I've mainly been playing 'keyboards'/synth and samplers these days. What I've been enjoying lately is to sample the tail end of a guitar chord running through some random effects pedals and then chop that up, reverse it and stick it into a drum machine or something for mangled weirdness. I still play guitar a lot though - I picked up a cheap Jazzmaster recently which is something I've been wanting to do for ages. Jazzmaster, a delay pedal and some fuzz? Insufferable shoegaze noise, please.

Along with some half-assed attempts at tackling FM synthesis on a level higher than "change the operator ratio until it sounds half-decent", I've also been messing around with Pure Data, which is like a freeware version of Max/MSP (music programming language). I have some basic programming knowledge but it's a little, uh, daunting -

I might be better off copping out and ~legally purchasing~ a copy of Reaktor.
