I'm impressed by how well Paul has been polling in the general election match-ups this cycle, I must say (not that I think those numbers would hold up in an actual general election between him and Obama).

I think someone (Meeker?) pointed out that since Paul's irrelevant - sure he's in third place in the primaries, but hasn't got a chance of moving beyond that - no-one bothers attacking him, so that probably helps.

And yeah, glad to see some sanity on Paul-Obama general election numbers. Perry is unelectable because he wants to dismantle Social Security but Paul supposedly overcomes this by, what, wanting to legalise weed and eliminate the nation's central bank? Come on, Paulbots.

Ron Paul does a lot of things that would earn him a lot of votes from liberals:
Opposes war (an area where liberals feel let down)
Wants to legalize drugs (liberals angry over the CA result)
Says what he believes

Yeah, my point is that none of those things are going to distract liberals from the fact that he's a paleoconservative hardliner who wants to force sick uninsured people to seek care from charities (!) and repeal much of the 20th century.

If you agree with Paul's positions, that's great, and that's a perfectly valid position to take. But he's the near-textbook definition of unelectable. Seriously, imagine the television ads in a Paul-Obama matchup. It'd take a couple of quick spots about those racist articles he wrote and his opposition to the Civil Rights Act and that'd be pretty much the end of it. The Democrats wouldn't even need to touch his free market fundamentalism.
