The GOP would have a very conservative ticket in touch with those who have been ignored.
Campaign slogan- Voice for the Ignored!

Minnesota goes Republican for the first time in 40 years?

Indiana and Virginia go Democratic for the first time in 44 years?

(And those states were far more Republican than Minnesota has been Democratic)

We know why Indiana and Virginia went Democratic, we've seen the results, its a real case study. What demographic shift do you foresee happening in Minnesota that will make it go Republican?

Um, the state is hardly a Democratic stronghold. Bush lost the nationwide popular vote in 2000 and only narrowly won it in 2004, yet the Democrats barely held onto Minnesota both times.

And there were no "great demographic shifts" to explain Indiana, either.

You can look at voter turnout and see why Indiana and North Carolina flipped, but it is yet to be seen if it is a new trend.

Something has to happen to break the trend. Minnesota has gone Democratic post-Nixon, and you're suggesting it will change. Why will Gingrich/Thune make Democrats in Minesotta go "oh hey, lemme vote for the guy I never heard of from South Dakota and the old guy who stepped down as Speaker of the House due to ethics violations...hmm"
Um, same things that cause states to flip every election.

In reversal of 2008, Minnesota and Wisconsin would easily swing to the GOP.
