Possibly. The Cajuns wouldn't be horrified away from the Dems by a black man on the ticket.

Ehh... I am not so sure. That seems like being a bit too generous to Clinton. Perhaps she'd do better, but with McCain's strong response to Katrina it probably wouldn't have won her the state.

Clinton was only polling about 7 points behind McCain in Louisiana, and that was before any financial crisis struck.

Here we have a President McCain directly overseeing the financial collapse, and no Southerner on his ticket. Clinton, on the other hand, is a well-known name in those parts and has a moderate Virginian on the ticket.
