[3]Tough choice.  Not sure if I liked either him or Hoover, but prohibition tipped the scales in favor of Smith.

[5]I'd only support him for his foreign policy views.  Everything else is just horrible.
[6]And then I'd move to Canada if he won.
[7]Opposed the Vietnam War.
[8]I would have probably voted for him because of his seemingly non-interventionist platform.  Sometimes I have hope that he was really a proponent of a humble foreign policy all along, and the interventionist garbage was just Cheney's puppetry.
