In 2004 (in which I missed out voting by 12 days), I would've voted for the libertarian (yeah, the Libertarians had nominees in all 4 Districts and the Dems didn't!!!!).

But this year in the Chip Pickering vs. Jim Giles (www.rebelarmy.com) race, I'm gonna have to go with Pickering.

If there's no Dem candidate in 2008 (which would make 3 elections in a row), I'm gonna be even more PISSED.

Do you ever see signs for that Giles guy?  How does he get ballot access and get so many votes?  I mean, damn.

I'm out of the loop on this one.  Who is Jim Giles?

I think he's a white supremacist who's running against Republican Chip Pickering in MS-3 (no Dem is running).

yep.  A lot of liberals who don't pay attention will end up voting for Giles to spite Pickering.  I'm telling everyone I know to make sure they grit their teeth and vote Pickering.

I went to his website you posted and read his "compact". Since he didn't say a word about rounding up gays into concentration camps, if I was in that district, I'd vote for Giles. He doesn't have a chance in hell of winning, and I wouldn't vote for a Southern Republican if my life depended on it. (Hagel, McCain, etc. are another story)

I guess that would describe me, I'd choose a terrible alternative just to spite Pickering.

Like, that's really, really bad of you.  I'm ashamed that this guy is on the ballot in my district.  Sure, Pickering sucks, but I want this guy to get as few votes as possible so people outside Mississippi realize that most of us don't think like that.

Surely the Democrats could have found someone - didn't that seat used to be held by a Democratic congressman who Pickering beat in 2002, or am I getting mixed up?

Pickering beat Democratic ex-Rep Ronnie Shows in 2002. Shows represented an adjacent district that was merged into Pickering's in the 2002 redistricting.
yep, the legislature had no balls and placed South Madison County (home sweet home) into Pickering's district rather than Thompson's, which makes more sense geographically.  Basically this guaranteed that Thompson and Pickering are pretty much always safe, which is dumb.
