What is the rationale for this?

You can pick between these two:
  • I just made up a silly answer for a silly question.
  • Trump voters in North Carolina are particularly anti-trans, while there a lot of conservative Biden-voting Atlanta suburbans who might have taken it as a sign that Trump's not so bad so they decided to go ahead and vote for him.
