They're simply being rugged individualists, Harry. Roll Eyes

And maybe are firmly convinced that, political rhetoric aside, the money will still keep coming for hurricane relief, even if McDaniel votes against it.

If McDaniel had his way, they'd still be living in tents 9 years later.

In other news, the CL is projecting Thad to increase his margin in the Delta by around 2,000 votes from last time.

Can't wait to the hear the racist things McDaniel supporters say about the black voters turning out for Cochran.

Or McDaniel himself...

Jones is starting to come in (about 30% more vote to be counted from there) and Cochran is back to a narrow 7,000 vote lead (51.5-48.5) over McDaniel! And there's still more vote to come from a few other McDaniel counties including Lamar and Perry. Come on McDaniel!!!! Cheesy

Why the hell are you cheering for McDaniel??

Adam is a rather tedious partisan who thinks it could lead to a D+1 or at least make the Rs look stupid.

It may, but it would still be bad for Mississippi.

Still lots of McDaniel votes out there in Jones, Lamar, and DeSoto. Don't know why anyone's "calling" it yet...

There are no automatic recounts, so the losing side would have to sue if it's close and they disagree with the results.

If it ends up this close, what is the likelihood of a recount?

0. McDaniel could challenge the results in court though.

Red alert, guys! 94% in, 50.2 to 49.8 in MS! Still a tidge of Jones left. Still some desoto left too.

That's a punch in the gut...

Does MS have sore loser laws?  McDaniel seems like the type that would mount a write-in or independent campaign, even though it would ultimately be futile.

From best I can tell, there are no restrictions on write-ins, so McDaniel could if he wanted to.

These numbers don't include the absentee ballots, so we may not know the result tonight.

CL says it's "unclear" how many absentee and affidavit ballots are out there, so nothing is official tonight.

All that out-of-state Tea Party that poured in to Mississippi was for nothing!!! Hahaha!!

Hopefully it will help Landrieu and Pryor at least that Republicans blew money here instead of there.

I really hope McDaniel fights this and doesn't concede tonight. There was an odd high turnout among blacks tonight and if enough of the black ballots are found ineligible for breaking state law, McDaniel could win, but that's the only way he can have a comeback. Still, I don't feel comfortable writing McDaniel off yet.

It won't get anywhere. The poll-workers had lists of people who voted in the Democratic primary already, so I doubt there are more than a few dozen lawbreakers there.

The tea party is officially dead. You can't win a MISSISSIPPI runoff against a moderate republican? LOL
If the tea party considers Cochran a moderate, no wonder its dead

I'm pretty sure they consider him a liberal...

Yeah, the McDaniel-types definitely throw around the "L-word" about Cochran a lot. They say he's just another Obama puppet.

This is the second time in 3 years that Mississippi has shocked the nation by doing something sane at the ballot box (Personhood).
