Did someone mention this upthread... she's married to a woman and will be Oklahoma's first LGBT legislator.

Just knowing this fact, plus the fact that her opponent was undoubtedly a typical, that is to say God awful, Oklahoma Republican, makes me happy with this result. Smiley

Oh no! I'm happy there's diversity in redneck land rather than another Bible basher Republican in an overwhelmingly Republican state senate! I'm obviously not a real Republican after all!

To be fair Badger, it does seem like you're rooting for Democrats 90% of the time. Lol

He is. Badger is that 1% of "Republicans" who always vote D in the exit polls lol

I definitely wouldn't say always. Though in the age of trump it's hard to give a support to Federal candidates. I voted close to a straight Republican ticket in 2014

There's some indication that the "wave" has slowed down recently. Special elections and the generic ballot are not looking as rosy for Democrats as they were 3 weeks ago.

A Q-poll came out literally today showing the Democrats with a 14% lead on the generic ballot.

I appreciate your dedication to what you're doing here, but don't try that with me, sweetheart.

LimoLiberal has nothing of value to contribute, it seems. He may have to be the next one to go on ignore for the first time since Harding.

I was the first to actually find the Massachusetts results tonight and post them, but whatever.

By the way, I'm not a Republican. Nor do I post at RRH.

So, a Russian bot then.

Not a lot of activity coming up. The next races to watch will be three state legislative seats on April 24 in Long Island. These can give a hint of how Zeldin and King will do this November.

There are 8 others across the state. including 2 in the state senate which if Democrats win the the IDC has supposedly agreed to rejoin the mainline Democrats.

Most of them are happening in deep-blue NYC. There are a couple of upstate races that are potentially competitive, though.

Holy heck! This is of course old news to New Yorkers, but I just found out that Ruben Diaz senior was elected to city council ( we're hopefully he can cause less trouble as a gadfly) and his State Senate seat is one of those up in April special election. The Democratic nominee is an assemblyman who seems fairly mainstream and doesn't look like someone about to align himself with the IDC. Can anyone confirm that?

On the one hand I support Democrats not having complete control of New York state government. On the other hand I loathe gerrymandering regardless of which party it benefits, to which the IDC is inherently complicit. it also bugged the bejesus out of me that dudes like Ruben Diaz or responsible for that Faustian bargain.

EDIT: So does it seem suspicious to others that after originally serving in city council for a couple terms before moving to the state Senate that Diaz should decide at age 74 go back to city council? Could this have been some kind of inside deal 2 keep him a cushy elected position as long as he helped undo the IDC?  Any locals have inside knowledge on this? It's times like this I wish libertas was still posting here. Tongue
