The Yale incident is a long time coming. It's not just the e-mail, but a series of minor (and moderate) incidents against both minorities and women that have been building for months if not years. Honestly, though, my only observation is that my school (UW) hasn't seen any protests. We're definitely better than a lot of schools in terms of systemic racism and sexism, but everyone knows it's still there. And yet, as far as I know there haven't been any protests or strikes, just a few Facebook postings that have gone around.

Can you give concrete examples.

Of incidents at Yale? Sure.

If this best summarizes the Yale imbroglio, then why is it a protest against the administration as opposed to SAE which, as is well-documented before and after the Oklahoma incident , are a bunch of racist Neanderthals, and based on this behavior well-earned getting booted from (yet another ) campus?

Oh, and yes to changing the Calhoun Hall name. "Big dog" of history or not, he was an ardent slavery proponent and,  just as bad , the preeminent antibellum voice for succession and treason. There's little more reason to name a campus hall after him in a proudly Yankee patriotic state than there is to name one after Jefferson Davis (if Davis were also a Yale grad).
