Anyone intersted in some interesting insight on this should read Game Change, an insiders look at the 2008 election within the Obama, Clinton, Edwards and McCain campaigns. I read it the same week Edwards died. John is portrayed as every bit as reckless and narcissistic as his caricatures. By all accounts he genuinely was one of the genuinely nicest and down to earth people in politics, but something changed after the 2004 race and he became obsessed with such matters as the labels on his clothes, and developed a raging narcissism close aids called "the ego monster".

Rielle Hunter is apparently the prototypical hippieish space cadet. For example, a new agey pagan type, she would frequently declare "I'm a witch" to people she'd just been introduced to in the campaign.

Quite interesting though was the information about Elizabeth Edwards. It is......interesting. If was provided by numerous sources (including in one case a conference call with about 50 other people listening to her) who were shocked and outraged by John's conduct. It doesn't excuse John Edwards behavior one iota, but suffice to say the theme of the portrayal of even people sympathetic to her was what they called "the myth of St. Elizabeth". Nuff said until one reads the book.

Would be an interesting campaign tactic - "I am a witch!"

Cheesy Exhibit A why you're better than Libertas.
