Ugh, and of course Democrats in this prime pickup opportunity nominated a useless Blue Dog. Roll Eyes

Obama won NJ-02 by eight f**king points in 2012. It's an open seat in a D-leaning environment and the GOP candidate is a nutjob. Democrats don't need Van Drew to win here.

It's like 1 blue dog out of 200 democrats. Almost all of the blue dogs got kicked out of office before 2016. And most of the democrats running in 2018 are liberals, even in swing seats.

What's wrong with 1 blue dog?

1 blue dog sunk the public option in 2010.

One blue dog in the Senate, not the house. You might have an argument against Sinema for this same reason but certainly not Van Drew. New Jersey tends not to be in love with ultra liberals anyway.

I mean sure, Van Drew probably will do less damage than f**king Sinema (which yeah, I look forward to hating this slimy, spineless POS that makes Manchin look principled with a passion), but that doesn't change the fact that his district deserves better.

Second-safest pickup of the cycle and Democrats nominated a useless Blue Dog. No, I'm not over this.

It's really not.

This is ridiculous. A Generic D would be perfectly fine in this district. It voted to the left of the country in 2012, ffs.

The point is that Van Drew will probably be voting like a Republican more than half the time (and probably more on critical votes). So when he'll win, we won't actually be picking up one seat, we'll be picking up maybe 0.3 or 0.4 seats. Which means we basically conceded half a seat in a prime pickup opportunity before the election even happened.

There aren't any Democrats that vote with Republicans more than 50% of the time.

There are 3 in the Senate and 6 in the House.
