I'm generally not a fan of technocracy or of the idea that those who are academically brilliant ipso facto make the best leaders, but given that the mendacious denialism and in some cases outright nihilistic malice of much of the existing American power élite (and public) has reached the level of a world-historical emergency, this is much-needed right now.
