Is it possible to do "most posts this year" tracking or other similar things.

Actually I think that is a fine idea. Right now, this thread only serves to show a few minute changes here and there between the same 10 posters, some of whom have stopped posting long ago or are outright banished from Atlasland.

Curious if the stats for such a thing are even available to the right people.

No, there's no way for me to check such things that's any different from how everyone else can do it: Go through the list of "likely suspects" one by one, and view the "show the latest posts of this person" link on their profile page, then count the number from a certain date onwards.

I'm pretty sure Wayback Machine has caches of the top posters page on early January of each year. With a couple of subtractions you could get a rough estimate.

Yesterday was the least active day on the forum since before the inauguration.  I guess Trump is no longer shocking us so much.  Or at least, not so much that we feel like we need to talk about him as much anymore.

This despite eharding's best efforts I take it. Moving right along, in a more perfect world, fewer posts with higher quality would be the norm around here. But the world ain't perfect. Who knew?

It would be a bit better if you mods did your job and started deleting Eharding's trash.

I like that my posting rate has always remained roughly constant at about 15/day. Slow and steady wins the race.

Btw, another thing I just noticed: Last month also had the highest number of new account registrations in a non-presidential election year since February 2011.  Somehow or other we keep attracting new people.

We have to get tougher on the border folks. This new wave of trolls (King Lear, Greedo) is only slightly less worse than the post-2016 wave (Eharding, klartext, bagel).

They're bringing sh*tposts, they're bringing hot takes, they're trolls - and some of them, I assume, are good people.

Btw, another observation I've made is that Antonio seems to be constantly deleting his old posts in order to stay below 50,000 for some reason. 

Nope, I'd never willingly delete my own posts - memory is very important to me and I'd never want to delete any record of my presence here. I want to keep hold of everything: the good, the bad and the cringey.

However, unfortunately, for some reason or another, some of my posts do end up getting deleted. So when that happens, I take that opportunity to post a little bit until I hit 49,999 again.

Nope. BRTD, Al and Lewis have been the top 3 for as long as I've been around. Phil too I'm pretty sure was always already ahead of Opebo (he stopped posting around the time Opebo was banned, although the two things aren't related). So he was fifth at most.

Looks like I'm going to surpass Phil and reclaim the 6th spot soon. Sad.

After that it should be all downhill though. My activity is still way down from what it used to be.

Interesting that it took me until 2016 to get to the top 10, and since then I've climbed all the way to #5 and will probably reach #4 this year, even though my posting rate has dropped considerably in the past few years. I guess we had so many historically active posters quit or become almost totally inactive, whereas I'm still slugging along.

#4 will probably be my peak, though. I'm never catching up to Al, OC or BRTD. And then in the next few years I'm probably going to be surpassed by a lot of the new crop of posters.
