That's actually mind-blowing. I had never realized it was so much. Barely more than half of a given match is actually spent playing.

Suarez banned for 9 international matches and banned from all play for four months. Oh, and fined 100k (Swiss Francs, FIFA's inhouse currency).

That's hardly toothless.

Nice choice of words. Wink

Anyways, considering this sort of behavior in almost any setting would likely get him in jail, it's clearly far less than what he deserves.

Portugal scores!  A 1-0 Portugal win suits us fine.

Actually Ghana scored an autogoal. Shame, I was hoping Ghana would win...

Congrats USA! Smiley I've never actually managed to see them play (French TV broadcast the Ghana-Portugal one instead) but they seem to have achieved a more than honorable result against (theoretically) strong opponents. I'd have preferred Ghana to qualify, but still I'm glad to see them advance.

The team is full of selfish egotists

Like about 2/3 of this tournament's teams.

Fantastic game so far! Regardless of who wins (hope it's Chile) it's nice to see the two teams so energized and creative. Very entertaining to watch. Smiley

Ugh, such a shame... Netherlands did a pretty good job in the end, but Mexico deserved to win this.

I don't see why you're being so hard on Germany. They weren't at their best level, for sure, but they did what they needed to win. Besides, it's always fun when matches get to the supplemental times.

And Neuer is a real badass. Cheesy

I think this will be one of the first matches where I'm not rooting for anyone. I just hope the best team will win. Smiley

What a dull game. Really disappointing play from France, good but not great from Germany. Shame.

Yeah, the referee is a moron. What a shame. Though the match itself was entertaining.

Silver had long been overestimating Brazil's odds. Unfortunately, he always has the excuse that it's "just probabilities".

Silver admitted his prediction was crap this time around.

Everything would have been so much better if Chile had defeated Brazil.

Italy and Germany are pretty good friends AFAIK. Sure there's a rivalry, but it's not a nasty one - and besides, Italy always wins, so we have no reason to hold a grudge. Tongue

I remember suporting  Germany in 1982 and 1986, but that time there were no Netherlands to root for.

Germany-Netherlands would have been a great final (though Argentina played very well this time).
