The Universal Party having received no vote, it shouldn't be included in the general ballot.

That wasn't the reason I don't vote for McGovern.  The reason is he would be a terrible president, IMO.

That's fine. FWIW I hope McGovern wins but seeing as he'll probably do so easily I voted for McCloskey because I think he's a good guy and doesn't deserve to get blown out as it looks like he will. I don't encourage that other leftists do the same, obviously Tongue

You scare me. Who knows how many Dems had the same reasoning...

Wow, this election doesn't seem to attract nearly as many people.

Is the RL decline in turnout that started in the 1970s taking effect in this TL too?

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

A 42% PV margin sounds like a 50 state + DC sweep to me.

Yeah, definitely.

McGovern should easily win all 50 states with this margin.

Very low turnout though.

I did the math a while ago.  If this was 1964, McGovern would have gotten 38.9% of the PV.

42.9%.

Had the calc still up, it appears I used 30 instead of 33.  Still, hardly a victory.

Even if every single the 22 votes that are missing went to McCloskey, McGovern would still win by one vote.

Voter confidence comes into play too, though.  Maybe some wouldn't vote third party.

No way. 3rd party vote is already low compared to previous elections.

That would probably be an even bigger humiliation to McCloskey than not winning any State...

Wallace would probably win Mississippi and Alabama if he has 9% nationally.

Yeah, you're right. I'd see something like that:
